How to convert your DVD video or video files for Apple iPod ? COMMERCIAL SOLUTION

You have an Apple iPod and would like to watch your favorite DVDs using it? But you do not know how to convert your files into iPod compatible format? AVS Video Tools is just the program you need to solve this problem now. This simple yet powerful video converter utility enables you to transfer your DVD library to iPod (MP4/h.264) format with a few mouse clicks.

What you need:

All you need to transfer your DVD video and video files to your iPod is:

  • AVS Video Tools
  • iPod capable of video playback with a computer compatible cable

Out now! Now AVS Video Converter uses the AVS Mobile Uploader included in the AVS Video Tools installation package to upload the files to your iPod.

Step 1 :

Download and install AVS Video Tools.

Step 2 :

Run AVS Video Converter and select your input video file.

To select a video you would like to convert hit the Browse... button next to Input File Name Field. In the opened Windows Explorer Window browse for the necessary DVD folder:

NOTE! When your input is a DVD Disc, you will need to select the path to your source file: X://Video_TS/Video_TS.IFO. "X" stands for your DVD-ROM or the hard disk drive folder where your DVD is stored:

It is important to select the IFO file, rather than VOB file, because the IFO file contains the information about the entire DVD structure and this way you will avoid audio and video de-synch problems when converting.
Also, most DVDs have several VOB files (files with actual video)and if you convert VOBs instead of IFO, you will have to merge them afterwards, which is not the case with the IFO files.

Step 3 :

Set up the conversion parameters.

After you have selected the video input file, press To MP4 button on the main panel. In the list of Profiles (MP4 Profile Field) select one of the offered iPod profiles. You can also click Edit Profile button to manually set the iPod profile parameters.

For novice users it is recommended to select one of the default iPod profiles.

If you would like to change the video file parameters you can open the Profile Editor and input the following information:

  • Name: iPod MP4 - Highest Available Quality (MPEG4, 24 fps, 352x288; MPEG4 AAC LC)
  • Description: Video: MPEG4 - best quality, 24 fps, 320x240; Audio: MPEG4 AAC LC 128 kbps,44100 Hz, Stereo
  • Comment: (optional)
  • Video Format: MPEG-4--best quality
  • Frame size: 352x288
  • Audio Format: MP2/4(AAC LC) 128Kbps
  • File Type: iPod
  • Framerate: 24fps
  • Width: 352
  • Height: 288
  • Frequency: 44,100Hz
  • Channels: Stereo
Step 4 :

Set up a proper video output file path.

Click the Browse... button next to Output File Name field and select a location on your HDD for the output video file.

NOTE! When you select a location for your output video file, you should save the file to your personal computer HDD.

You should remember the location you choose for your output file as you will need it later to upload your resulting video to your iPod.

Step 5 :

Convert your DVD files.

After you have set up all the conversion parameters, hit the Convert Now! button to start converting.

You can visually judge the DVD conversion process if you hit the Advanced>> button twice.

The result of the conversion should be a video file with .m4v extension that can be transferred to your iPod with the help of the AVS Mobile Uploader application. It will be launched automatically when the conversion process is over.

Step 6 :

Transfer the converted video file to Apple iPod.

Connect your iPod to your computer with the help of a cable. Turn on the iPod.

The AVS Mobile Uploader application will be launched to guide you through the upload process so that you could send your converted video file to your Apple iPod with no difficulty.

If the Apple iPod is not displayed in the AVS Mobile Uploader window you should press the Find Devices button to search for your iPod:

After that click Next>>. You will see the summary information for your converted video file:

When you click the Upload>> button the upload process itself will take place. It will take some time depending on the output video file size.

Now you can enjoy your favorite DVD video and video files on your iPod!
