2. Creating a Private Folder
Creating a Private Folder is incredibly easy. First, right-click the Private Folder and select Create Private Folder.
Second, enter a password for the private folder, re-enter it, then click OK.
The Private Folder is created. Notice that the Private Folder is not named. If Private Folders had names, someone might be able to guess the contents of the folder from the name. For this reason, Private Folders are identified only by their password. New Private Folders are open by default.
3. Adding files to a Private Folder Adding files and folders to a Private Folder is also very easy. To add photos or folders to a Private Folder, either right-click and select Add to Private Folder or click and drag from the File List onto the Private Folder. Your photos or folders are moved from their present location into the Private Folder, and all information about them is removed from the ACDSee database.
Expand the Private Folder to display subfolders in the Private Folder pane. Click the Private Folder or subfolder to display photos in the File List.
4. Closing and opening Private Folders To open a Private Folder click either the Open button or the Private Folder icon in the Private Folder pane.
Enter the password of the Private Folder that you want to open and click OK. The Private Folder remains open until you close it.
To close a Private Folder click the Close button or exit ACDSee. Tip: Close Private Folders whenever you need to step away from your computer, even if you will only be away for a few minutes.
5. Removing files from Private Folders To remove a folder from a Private Folder, right-click and select Restore from Private Folder. To remove photos from a Private Folder or subfolder, select the photos in the File List then click File | Restore from Private Folder.
Identify the location where you would like to move the photos or folders then click OK. The photos or folders are moved to that unsecured location and are now visible to anyone who uses the computer.
Tip: Do not confuse deleting with restoring. If you delete photos or folders in a Private Folder, they are permanently destroyed. 6. Key concepts Check to see if you learned these key concepts: Private Folders are password-protected to prevent other people from viewing, opening, or altering your personal photos. Private Folders do not have names. Instead, they are identified only by their password. This prevents other people from guessing the contents of the Private Folder. When you add photos or folders to a Private Folder, they are moved from their present location into the password-protected Private Folder, and all information about them is removed from the ACDSee database. If you open a Private Folder, it remains open until you close it.
