How to correct chromatic aberrations in photos ? COMMERCIAL SOLUTION

Every lens, to a greater or lesser extent, focuses the light of different wavelengths onto different focal planes and magnifies it differently. This causes, correspondingly, the so-called "Longitudinal Chromatic Aberrations" and "Lateral Chromatic Aberrations". Chromatic aberrations are visible as the fringes of color at the contrasty edges.

1. Take a sequence of continuous photographs.

Most of modern digital cameras and some camera phones support the so-called "continuous" or "burst" mode. Several images are taken in series, usually by pressing and holding the shutter button. Please refer to your camera manual or consult the camera manufacturer/distributor for more details about using the continuous mode with your camera. If your camera does not support continuous mode, you can simply take several pictures one by one.

2. Transfer the photographs from the camera to PC.

You can use cable connection to your PC or transfer the photographs directly from memory card using a Card reader. Please refer to your camera manual or consult the camera manufacturer/distributor for more information on how to transfer photographs to a PC. Photographs from a mobile phone can be transferred via Bluetooth or Infrared connection.

3. Launch PhotoAcute Studio. Load the photographs into PhotoAcute Studio.

Click "Open" button to open the pop-up file browser or drag-and-drop the files to PhotoAcute Studio window. Loaded photographs are listed on the left panel. Marked photographs are shown tiled on the right, if the "Tile" box is checked.

4. Set processing options and start processing.

Click "Start" button to open the processing options dialog and start processing.

Every lens focuses the light of different wavelengths on different positions. This causes chromatic aberration that is seen as "fringes" of color around the image. PhotoAcute Studio corrects this aberration, minimizing the circle of confusion.

Usage: Color fringing correction is turned on/off by ticking the corresponding checkbox in the processing options dialog -- Fix color fringing.

5. Examine the result.

PhotoAcute Studio provides you with an easy and effective tool for comparing the result to the original images. Once the processing is successfully completed, PhotoAcute Studio displays one of the original images and the resultant image side by side. When you drag one of the images (by mouse), the other one is moved correspondingly. You can drag single image without moving the other one by pressing [Ctrl] key while dragging.

6. Save the result.

Select the photograph you want to save from the photographs list. Click the "Save" button.
