| Merge MP3 files, WAV files. Merge audio fragments. |
Let's suppose we have 3 songs in mp3 format: File 1: "Scooter - I Shot The DJ.mp3" 3:39 File 2: "Scooter - Burn The House.mp3" 4:35 File 3: "Scooter - Habibi Halula.mp3" 1:05 Ok, now we decided to merge them into one big file. This task can be performed by using simple audio joiners. But! What if I want to merge only some pieces of these files? And Quickly! Without complex and expensive wave editors? In this example we want to merge: - 60 seconds of File 1. - Full length of File 2. - 10 seconds of File 3. - And... 20 seconds in the middle of File 3. |
| Method 1 - Merge audio fragments by using BEGIN/END buttons and Vidmex Wizard |
Step 1
Launch Vidmex. Click menu File -> Add File(s)... Select several mp3(or any other media) files by holding ctrl key. Click Open. Selected files will be added into playlist.
Step 2
Click twice on the first file in playlist or push Play button on main window. The audio file will start playing in Vidmex.

Step 5

Step 6
Close Vidmex Wizard. Double-click on the second file in playlist. In our example this is: Scooter - Burn The House.mp3. Drag the slider bar to the end (00:04:34) and press END button.
The second file will appear in Vidmex Wizard list.
Step 7
Close Vidmex Wizard again. By analogy, click twice on the third file in playlist. Set position to 10 seconds and click END button. So, 3 files are prepared for extraction and joining. But, we must also add the last fragment! This is 20 seconds from the same 3rd file. Select this fragment by using BEGIN/END buttons (for example: 00:35 and 00:55).
Step 8
Finally, press Join audio fragments button. Corresponding window will pop up. Enter filename, change path and choose MP3 (MPEG Layer-3) as Output Format.

| Hint: Easy way to mark fragments of files in playlist |
In addition to the standard way of marking audio fragment (R hot key) you can use convenient hidden feature of Vidmex playlist. Playback ranges of audio files in playlist can be specified very quickly by using only mouse buttons. In this example, let's consider possibility of setting playback range of the first file: Scooter - I Shot The DJ.mp3. We need to mark 60 seconds of this file. Start position must be set to 00:00:30. First of all, double-click the first file or push Play button on main window. So, audio from the first file will start playing in Vidmex. Next, try to change position of slider bar by holding left mouse button and dragging mouse cursor:
Move it approximately to 00:00:27 - 00:00:30. Then right-click exactly on the empty first area - on the right side of the currently playing file in playlist:
Next, wait a minute, or change position of slider bar again (by using mouse cursor). So, when the position of playing will reach the value of 00:01:30, right-click on the second area.
The result: playback range of the first file is set to 00:00:30 - 00:01:30.
In this way (just by clicking mouse buttons) it is possible to mark all necessary fragments in playlist and to merge them (menu: Operation -> Merge Audio). |
