Merge different fragments from the same video file, and then mix video with your audio records. Prepare a short review of large film.

You can merge not only different files, but also different fragments from the same media file. The feature is very useful when you want to prepare a trailer, short review of the movie or when you want to insert advertisement into film.

In this tutorial we will explain how to prepare full-quality trailer, by joining pieces of movie and mixing them with audio file.

Let's suppose we want to create a trailer of film The Hours

Step 1

Add video fragments into Vidmex Wizard and merge video. Load a movie (for example, The Hours.avi) using Open button on Vidmex main window or click on Playlist menu: File -> Add File(s)....

Press Play. Drag a slider at desirable position in movie and click BEGIN / END buttons. Appropriate fragment will be added into Vidmex Wizard. Repeat the operation of selecting video fragments several times.

After that, press Merge Video Fragments button.

Next, enter destination filename (videotrack.avi) which will be used in operation of joining of video fragments. Choose SLOW MODE and press Next button.

Step 2

Choose audio and video compressors. As the operation is intermediate, select ADPCM audio codec. Audio quality parameters can be left unchanged.

In order to preserve 100% quality of video select HUFFYUV video codec (available at Codecs section). But you can also use DivX or XviD.

Press Next and wait several minutes.

Step 3

Mix saved videotrack with audio file. First of all, add recently saved video from movie (videotrack.avi) into playlist (click menu File -> Add File(s)...). Also, add any audio file and set playback range of the file (Edit -> Set playback range). The range must correspond to duration of video file.

Select all files by using Ctrl+A hot key or menu Edit -> Select All. Next, click on menu Operation -> Mix Video/Audio or press M key. In Vidmex Wizard window enter filename and choose path.

MP3 and DivX (or XviD) are suitable codecs for final compression.

Finally, press Next and wait several minutes. Your trailer will be saved as AVI file.
